Splash of Color

He is coming! Ah I can't believe it, a little less than 3 months and I will be holding my little baby. Tay and I went and registered at Target and I was completely unimpressed with their baby stuff. I am very picky and it just was not working out between Target and I which is unusual. I only  had about 20 items on my list. Well then this lady came up to us because she heard me saying how I don't like any of the car seats and she purposed that I go to BuyBuy Baby! Never heard of it but onward I went and discovered awesome stuff! I am so excited, they are owned by BedBath & Beyond, they have such wonderful things! They are located by South Town mall so if anyone is having a baby soon I highly recommend going, all the employs are very helpful!

Anyways..even after going to BuyBuy Baby I was not that impressed with their section of bedding but I found a cute Owl bedding that has orange, turquoise, and lime green colors (I normal am not into owls but sometimes you just got to break out of your comfort bubble which I have totally done ever since I have started design school). I really like the bright colors and all these ideas went flowing in my head! So I am excited to put my ideas in action!

Brief interruption of cute chubby baby! :)

I really don't care to pay 300 dollars for a changing station so I want to make my own I am on a look out but I want to put together/make something like this:
But in orange not yellow.

Well that is it for now, I just wanted to blog while my hubby was working on his lesson for church tomorrow but he is done now so that makes me done with blogging.

have a fabulous weekend!:)

A Door to do the Chore

I love old vintage doors. I was able to talk my hubby into buying one for me after looking days for a good deal I was able to find a door for $40.00 which was not to bad considering the great usage we are now getting out of it!
We took this old door and made it into...

a distressed/vintage coffee table and an end table..

We just sawed the top of the door off. Thanks to my Dad's handy tools and help I was able to do this in just 4 days. Tay and I really loved how it turned out! The color is a bit dull because I took these photos with my phone. (We sold our camera to get a more simpler camera and so in the mean time we get to enjoy these dull looking pictures)

Building these two pieces of furniture was a lot of work but totally worth it! I love taking old or used things and making them into something functional.
We are now in the process of finding a new rug and fabric to make couch pillows to go with our new furniture. When I get the whole look put together I will post more pictures:)

Like A Pie In The Face

I took on the ridiculous task to build a chandelier. I really thought it would turn out
amazing. Unfortunately it is one of those projects you keep thinking..."even though I have spent so much time, money, and EFFORT..it will be worth it!"
Well I can tell that to the lame Jury because this Chandelier was pretty much a slap in my face.
I started from complete scratch and with my Dads awesome tools I was able to cut the metal and
drill holes that at least look half decent but the rest just kind of looks like a sad mess that I can't clean up.

I hung it in our room to see what Tay would say. I thought he would laugh but he actually likes it but he is just a sweetie trying to make me feel like I didn't completely
waste time and money.

(I don't know why everything I write is underlined..I can't take it off..maybe what I have to say is just so profound the computer feels it needs to be underlined, who knows?)

SCHOOL:

For one of my classes final projects the whole class was asked to design a condo in Park City
for a client. The teacher told us about the client:

She is;
50 yrs old
a chief
a business women
very athletic
a dancer
a skater
a singer
heavily involved in politicians
a role model to many
she has her own clothes line
(WOW this lady sounds amazing!)
She has recently been divorced and is getting married to him again.

SHE IS:

yep! It is Barbie, I was very excited to take on this task. We got to see the pictures Jordan Adler designed for the BARBIE Malibu Dream house here are some of the pictures of the house:

This is a barbie Chandelier made out of hair..Unique but kind of gross..

I love all the fun COLORS! He is such an amazing designer!

PINK:)

This house is so popular in Malibu they wanted us to design a condo in Party city that little girls could go tour. The clients were there and explained what they wanted in the design. They were going to come again next class to judge the whole class and pick their favorite and who ever designed the best condo would win and get the JOB.

Well you would think it would be all BARBIE HOT PINK but they gave us a wallpaper sample that was very vintage and had birds on it...NOT very barbie to me but I still thought I could make it barbie enough.

We only had one week.
I was so nervous and was hoping I could at least take 3rd place.
I usually dont' mind speaking in front of the class but I was super nervous.
When the clients named who got 3rd (I was sad to know it was not me) then 2nd and
then She said, 1st place goes to CRYSTAL NIELSEN, she got the job! Well she is lucky, wait..that is me!
I was very excited, until I found out they are NOT really building a condo in Park City. HA another joke on me. Tay called me and he asked if I got 1st place and I said yeah I won, he freaked out and said well what does this entail...and I am like nothing..I just won, I mean I guess you could call it a pride booster. Tay was as sad as I was ha.
They should have made it real so the winner could actually have experience but I guess it was fun for one week to actually think I was doing an important project.
Just like BARBIE..it was fake..beside the client part and the grade of course:)

My next post will be about CHRISTMAS!

Livin it and Lovin it~

Behold...My project~

Our friends introduced us to this awesome game called "Aggravation" They bought it from some lovely Amish people for $45 dollars (online they are $50). I was truly obsessed with playing the game everyday. I didn't want to fork out $50 bucks so I took matters into my own hands and built one for myself.....it really was harder then I thought it would be and I am not as skilled as those Amish people but by the time I got done I only paid $18 dollars for the whole project!

Our late nights~

Tay gets home late and so at night we enjoy soaking up every minute together! I just can't get enough of him..thank goodness I have him for eternity!

Enjoying yummy sticky fingers (Winger's recipe..click here to get the fabulous recipe..taste JUST like Winger's but even BETTER and SOO easy to make!)

I was really excited about this recipe as you can tell..

Pool time with Makall and the most happy little girl, Hailey!:) (she is really making Tay and I baby hungry)

and..that is all for now..

I will try to be better at taking pictures. I have just been so BUSY with NOT having a job or going to school. Sometimes when Tay gets home I just have to complain how hard it is to lay out by the pool.

Although in the mist of my busy life, I have learned how to cook some AWESOME meals to keep my man happy:) .....maybe., just maybe I will post some of the recipes!
